    Whatsapp, doc?

As you may or you may not know that the most common handheld device in Indonesia is Blackberry (BB). It is very ‘booming’ and I can say that 90% of my friends are BB users. I don’t know why but probably because it is the first device which has its own messenger network which we call it Blackberry Messenger or BBM? I am not really sure. What I can be sure was when I went back to Indonesia with my Android phone, my precious smartphone became very “silly” phone. Haha…Anyway, that’s not the thing that I want to talk about now. Stay focus! 😀

I used to be a BB user and I used to communicate with my friends in Indonesia and few relatives of mine which staying in overseas through BBM. Whether it is for personal chat, group chat or whatever, I find that I could save a lot on my phone bill because I didn’t need to send international SMS so often.

Then, the issue arose when I moved from BB to Android phone! I was kinda lost connection with my friends. You know, after for a while you know that you can actually pay less to communicate with people and then you have to go back to your old way to communicate and pay more, that kinda feeling is pretty……….bad! Haha…

Until I found this new messenger application for my Android phone (actually it’s recommended by someone but I just couldn’t remember who), called Whatsapp. At first, I didn’t notice how useful it was until I know that it is actually a cross-platform messenger for different OS devices which is also available for BB devices! Wohooo….!

Here is some information that I grab from the Whatsapp official website.

WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. WhatsApp Messenger is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and Nokia and yes, those phones can all message each other! Because WhatsApp Messenger uses the same internet data plan that you use for email and web browsing, there is no cost to message and stay in touch with your friends. In addition to basic messaging iPhone, Android, Nokia and BlackBerry WhatsApp Messenger users can send each other unlimited images, video and audio media messages.

In the past, the most efficient and fastest way to deliver the message was by phone or SMS. And now there is an alternative economical way to keep in touch with people that are located far from us. A few days ago, one of my relatives just created a Whatsapp group which consist of Chong family members and it is like making our distance become nearer.

Though my relatives and my sibling are not all in Singapore, we still can communicate with each other at any time and at anywhere. And now I just realize that they have so many things to talk about. More than 200 messages in less than 2 hours! Ha!

There are many messenger applications out there such as Tango, TalkBox and etc. But at the moment, I think…Whatsapp is a must-have application for all smartphones users. More information on how it works can be found on their website or it can be easily downloaded from apps store on your phone for trying out right away. So, Android users with BB friends, no more worries! Enjoy and stay in touch!
