As far as I know, Japanese love to keep high standard quality in everything they do. This also can be seen from these two Japanese restaurants, Kushiya Monogatari and Uchino Shokudo, which were opened not long ago together with the opening of AEON Mall BSD in Serpong, Indonesia.
With other Bloggers, I was invited to the preview of these two restaurants to try out on their menu. Although both are under the same management of Fujio MSP (a joint venture between PT Mulia Sukses Perdana and Fujio Food System Japan Co. Ltd.), each restaurant offers a different kind of dining experience.

Kushiya Monogatari
People, Tradition, and Recreation are the three keywords to describe the wholesome dining experience in Kushiya Monogatari.
Kushiya Monogatari offers the ultimate Japanese Do-It-Yourself (“DIY) buffet-style dining where customers can fry their own selection of fresh and high-quality foods in skewers (kushiage style). They also have a wide selection of appetizers and desserts which will delightfully complete the culinary experience while surrounded by the interior concept which is derived from legendary Japanese heritage of Matsuri (cultural festival) and the solemn city of Kyoto.
For the menu, Kushiya Monogatari is introducing notable signature selections including choices of appetizers, skewers, salads, main courses, desserts sauce, and beverages. The buffet area serves a total of 50 selections, all can be at IDR128,000,- for adults on weekdays, and IDR148,000,- on weekends, while children below 10 years old enjoy IDR98,000,- price tags.
Orh, when you are there, do remember to try out their Japanese curry rice and also the meat patty. It is simply delicious! 🙂
Uchino Shokudo
While Kushiya Monogatari offers buffet-style dining experience, Uchino Shokudo offers approximately 19 ala carte and 19 set menus which are authentically crafted after its original recipes.
The essential element of Uchino Shokudo‘s product lies in the quality of the rice. The best rice is polished every single day with imported mechanical tools from Japan to guard its freshness before cooked using traditional Japanese cooking utensil namely kamado – a traditional Japanese wood or charcoal fueled cook stove.
There are some signature dishes such as Kyoto-style Grilled Cod with Miso Paste, Broiled Flounder with Soy Sauce and Sugar, Minced Toro Tuna with Welsh Ohitsu, or Salmon and Minced Toro Tuna with Welsh Ohitsu amongst its ala carte choices, whiles favourite set menu such as Uchino Shokudo Set and other sets that are the completed version of the ala carte are also available.
Besides the food and the friendly staff, what I love about the restaurant is their interior design. It is sleek and modern with a strong woody and earthy element dominate the overall layout of the restaurant. Earthly and warm. 🙂
On top of the menu quality, Uchino Shokudo is on its way of becoming one of the unique destinations at AEON Mall. The outlet reintroduces kitchen-to-table concept, similar to Teppanyaki, but something more to the table. It brings fun show, live cooking entertainment with a touch of originality in its showmanship. Sounds good, eh?
